After
listening the the barman the night before we were a little
shook, but we knew that flowers had been on the gravesite and
they looked new, so we thought someone had to be nearby, but
after thinking this all over I had decided to at least put a
letter and pictures of my grandsons at the gravesite and also at
St. Hugh's and to tape which in my excitement the day before
forgot to do, but we had to find a word processor someplace and
the closest place was the Ballinimore Library. At this point in
all of this I was happy we had found as much as we did and I was
ready to head to Galway the next stop on our trip, but Deb
wouldn't let me, she just kept telling me to not give up that we
would find more and so I listened to her. We went to the library
and out of the blue sky came our next helper Mary Conferey in
the photo at the top left. Mary works in the genealogy part of
the library and she really helped us. Deb started talking to her
and the next thing I knew she had the 1901 census of Ireland out
and it showed us where John and Elizabeth lived Annagh Lower and
approximately where that was. She also went further and found
the census of 1911, which by that time showed that John
and Elizabeth had passed away but that Peter and Anne lived on
the same property still in Annagh Lower. She showed us where it
was located but could not give us the map, but Deb tried to
trace it, but then I remembered that at the Genealogy Center
Brid had given us another map and I handed it to Mary and on it
was Annagh Lower, almost the exact map that we had been looking
at, this now gave us two sources that said the same thing, so we
felt we were getting closer. So here we go again, this time with a little more hope and
now we were going to see it through. Below is the censuses of
1901 and 1911 which show John and Elizabeth and Anne and in 1911
showing Peter and Anne and Mary her daughter. We left
Ballinimore and headed back to Loch Allen to take some tape and
back to the church and this time the church was open. |
