Seaview Restaurant, Inishowen Peninsula

The last night of the Doherty reunion was a genealogy get-to-gether held at the Seaview Restaurant at Malin Head. Kathy Gannon had it and it was basically about the Doherty's. At the convention I found out other things about the Doherty's for instance how they got to Leitrim. In 1601 there was a battle fought in County Cork at a place called Kinsale. The catholics came down from Inishowen and Donegal to fight, but they lost and it started the immigration to the United States. Many of them didn't get back north enough and ended up in Leitrim. There are 3 distinct clans of Doherty's who live in Leitrim. The pictures on these pages are top left. Corleen Doherty from London, but her ancestors lived in Leitrim. We easily could be cousins. In the middle top is Kathy Gannon a dear friend email friend of mine, she help me with out travel plans and is a big part of the Doherty clan organizatio. On the right is Cameron Doherty of Michigan, Patty Doherty's son. On the bottom is Kathy and Seoirse O'Dochartaigh, an area singer, musician and historian. In the middle is Deb and Kathy's granddaughter and on the right is Jim Doherty from York, one of the many people from Pennsylvania.
