Buncrana Castle (Doherty Keep) is one of the many Doherty Castles you will see on the Inishowen Peninsula. There are I believe about 8 more we only got to see two of them. In the middle picture is a memorial to Cahir "Rua" O'Dogherty, who was the last remaining Doherty Monarch of Inishowen and who was killed by the British in 1608. The Doherty's will have their next reunion in 2008 to commemerate  the 400th anniversary.

On left is a memorial to Theobald Wolfe Tone. One of the many Irish patriots who paid with their lives for Ireland's freedom. He was captured off of Buncrana when his ship got stuck on the rocks.
